The Statue of Liberty is a neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The copper statue, which was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886. The construction of Statue of Liberty began in 1884 at the Fort Wood on Liberty Island in New York City, it was completed in 1886.
