The Staten Island Ferry is a free passenger ferry service that runs between Manhattan and Staten Island. It curently operates 8 vessels and 2 terminals; the Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan and the Saint George Terminal in St. George, Staten Island. The operation began in 1817 and now has an average daily ridership of around 75,000.
