One World Trade Center is the tallest building in Manhattan located in United States and is also. It was expected a completion in 2013 but it was finished in 2014, total that may reach 1 year, It soars to a height of 1,776 feet. Its nickname is the Freedom Tower, because of America's resilience after 9/11, it's height also contributes to the nickname as it stands at 1,776 feet and 1776 was the year that the United States declared it's independence from Britain. The interlocking Triangle Design makes it a symbol of resilience and freedom, It was also the focus of the 2013 PBS documentary Ground Zero Supertower. One World Trade Center is the tallest Building in the Western Hemisphere and memorializes those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001.
The building's architect is David Childs, from the Skidmore studio, Owings & Merrill (SOM), which is known to have designed the Burj Khalifa and the Willis Tower. On April 27, 2006, construction work began for the relocation of the services, equipment and foundation facilities for the new building. The One World Trade Center became the tallest structure in New York on April 30, 2012, when it surpassed the height of the Empire State Building. The steel structure of the tower was crowned on August 30, 2012. On May 10, 2013 the last component of the spire was installed, reaching a total height of 1,776 feet (541 meters), a symbolic figure that results be the year of the Declaration of Independence of the United States (July 4, 1776). To be technical though, One World Trade Center is 1,775 ft, 10 inches. The building opened its doors on November 3, 2014. On March 30, 2009, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced that the building would be officially known by its legal name of "One World Trade Center", instead of "Freedom Tower". The skyscraper has a total of 104 floors, but only 94 are habitable. The new World Trade Center complex has another five office skyscrapers along Greenwich Street, as well as the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, located south of the One World Trade Center, where the Twin Towers were located. The construction of the new building is part of efforts to rebuild and commemorate the victims following the destruction of the original World Trade Center complex.
