The Empire State Building is a famous skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan. It was built in 1931 and held the record for tallest building in the World until the construction of the original World Trade Center in 1972.It is world famous.

After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the Empire State Building again became the tallest building in New York until One World Trade Center surpassed it on April 30, 2012. The building is currently the tenth tallest skyscraper in the United States and the 7th tallest in New York City. The Empire State Building is an American cultural icon. It was designed in Art Deco style and was ranked as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The building and its interior are designated marks of the city of New York. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986. The building is owned by the Empire State Realty Trust, of which Anthony Malkin serves as CEO and President. In 2010, the Empire State Building underwent a $ 550 million renovation, of which $ 120 million was spent to transform the building into an efficient and sustainable energy structure. The Empire State Building is the highest building with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certificate in the United States, which it received in September 2011.

The 200 foot TV mast on top of the Empire State Building counts as part of the building. The top of the TV mast is 1,250', not the top of the technical building. The top of the antenna is 1,454'. Not including the TV mast, the Empire State Building is 1,048' tall.
